Now you know what the family needs for the new system you are asked to draw up a system specification for the hardware and software that will be required.

You will need to consider the following points:

What will the systems need to have to enable them to carry out their tasks?
e.g. large screens and RAM for working with graphics, read/write CDs for storage, modems for communications
What software will the family need?
e.g. integrated packages or independent specialised software
What peripherals will be needed?
e.g. printers, scanners, modem

If you are unsure about the hardware needed you can always look through computer magazines or search the internet until you find a specification that will suit the family.
