Flow charts

This is a method of explaining a system and the actions involved. It is called flow-charting.

Flow-charting uses symbols like the ones below:

The starting point of a system or procedure is a circle.

Any action or operation such as ‘move forward’ or ‘get bread’ is contained in a rectangular box.

A decision or question such as ‘is there an obstruction?’ or ‘tea or coffee?’ is contained within a diamond shaped box.

Look at the diagram as an example of a flow chart.

This is a flow chart to describe how you might start using a computer.
